The owner herself is a creative who contributes jewelry and other designs to the shop. Easily the best vintage finds in all of Houston, Reeves Art + Design has recently branched out to include more art (both old and new) among their impeccable selection of modern furniture. Just a hop and a booty pop away from Montrose favorite, Boheme Cafe, Reeves has been a family operation since 1969. This Montrose mainstay has multiple showrooms that sing unique siren song, pulling you in for just a bit longer than you intended.
An homage to the motorcycle and skateboarding countercultures of yesteryear, Reserve Supply Company on Washington Ave. carries clothing and accessories for the skater boys who took a turn for the sophisticated. Browsing is made even better with growlers of craft beer and flasks of whiskey can accompany you. Among the denim, footwear, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and vintage hats, shoppers will also find a full line of skateboards for only the most dapper of dudes.
Since 1974, Brazos Bookstore has been Rice Village’s literary heavyweight that not only showcases the most important literature of our time, but also engages the community with programs, book signings, and events. Especially in the spirit of Small Business Saturday, it should be noted that when the original owner of Brazos Bookstore retired in 2006, twenty-seven Houstonians came together and purchased the shop to own and operate equally—truly a cooperative, community-focused endeavor down to its roots.
