There is nothing greater than that sense of nostalgia of being part of a sports team and playing out in the summer sun. Or so I have been told. I am the only person to be benched on a tee-ball team due to a poor batting average.

The temperature is rising and the sun is out later and all we can think about is taking advantage of this Houston weather. And what better time to join a LGBT sports league in Houston to expand your social circle. And if sports still aren’t your thing, going to the games is a great way to hang out and to see athletic men hot and sweaty. And there isn’t anything wrong with that.

America’s Finest Kickball League
We all remember playing kickball as kids and this LGBT league brings back those memories. Their first meeting is on May 20th.

FrontRunners Houston
For all you runners out there, meet up for one of the many runs this group hosts at Memorial Park each week. There are dinners and happy hours after select runs for you to meet those you are sweating next to.

Houston Hurricanes
Men and women of all ages are welcome to Houston’s largest flag football league. Yes, that is flag with an “L.”

Houston Tennis Club
Serve it up with these guys who meet weekly at the Memorial Park Tennis Center.

Houston Outdoor Group
This group for gay men, lesbians and allies is a social group for those who just enjoy being outside. They participate in monthly activities like camping, hiking, and much more.

Lone Star Volleyball Association
The volleyball scene in Houston has spiked (no pun intended) in recent years. LSVA is a proud member of the North American Gay Volleyball Association (NAGVA), and provides year-round playing opportunities for all skill levels. LSVA offers two league seasons and two open play seasons. Volleyball enthusiasts can come to any open play night for just $5 and dates for both can be found on their website. You can also visit Wakefield Crowbar, a family-friendly establishment with sand courts, food and beers on taps.

Montrose Softball League
Whether you are a pitcher or a catcher (although sometimes Houston seems to only be filled with catchers but that’s a different story), everyone is welcome to participate in the largest LGBT sports organization in Houston. Seasons run from March to June, and September to November.
