In Houston, Tex-Mex food reigns supreme. Superica, from native Houstonian chef Ford Fry, is one of five in the country serving up delicious huevos and cocktails every weekend during brunch time. Located in the Heights, this Mexican hotspot has been delighting patrons for more than a year and keep them coming back for more.
Upon entering, diners will feel at home with the casual décor. Wooden tables with green and cream chairs, and banquettes line the walls with ornate tile flooring bringing in some Mexican flare. The restaurant is a true mix of Texas and Mexico with a longhorn’s head and cultural tapestries adoring the walls. A large bar with brown, leather stools is a great spot to grab a drink and root for your favorite Houston team on the nearby big screen TV.
The brunch menu has so many standouts, it is hard to choose just one. Many of the breakfast plates feature eggs, crispy tortillas strips, chorizo, potatoes and steak mixed up in a multitude of tasty ways. One of their most satisfying brunch hits is without a doubt the Huevos Mexicanos with fluffy eggs, jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, cheese and fried frijoles. Diners can choose from sides like applewood smoked bacon, Tejano sausage, fresh tortillas, oversized hot cakes with whipped butter, a tropical fruit salad, or refried beans to enhance their meal.
Staple brunch drinks like mimosas, bloody marys, sangria and cheladas, are available along with aquas frescas, Topo Chico and the oh so delicious Mexican Coke.
Superica serves brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
