Located in Upper Kirby, Eunice is a Cajun and Creole brasserie headed by chef Drake Leonards. The restaurant is named after Leonards’ hometown and brings the charm and powerful flavors of Southern Louisiana to the Greenway Plaza area.

When you walk into Eunice, you immediately feel how open and airy it is. Square lanterns, wrapped with muslin, float in the air like clouds against the calming blue walls with wooden accents and dark wood beams. Plenty of windows let light flood into the space and look out to a gorgeous patio that allows for al fresco dining. A dramatic U-shaped bar juts out into the middle of the restaurant near an intimate chef’s table.

The brunch menu at Eunice is nothing short of a Cajun food lover’s dream with Southern dishes and Gulf Coast seafood. For starters, there are options like the Cajun duck poppers with crisp bacon, hand pulled burrata, and of course, oysters with shrimp, lump blue crab and brown butter breadcrumbs. Also, we suggest getting a bowl of their chicken and sausage gumbo that rivals some of the best in the city.

When it comes to entrees, there are the usual brunch suspects like buttermilk pancakes with bananas and pecans, and a hearty southern breakfast just like your grandmother used to make. Eunice’s seafood brunch options steal the show though with a blue crab benedict with ham, eggs and a rich hollandaise, and a Creole gulf shrimp etouffee.

Eunice also features a full bar with beer, wine and specialty cocktails from highly skilled bartenders.

Eunice is open from 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
