Blink and you might miss the tree-shaded house that contains Simone on Sunset. The cozy wine café, which is the brainchild of chef/owner Kristen Powell, opened in the West University area in December 2010.
Situated on the fringe of Rice Village, the quaint spot remains a hidden gem, offering a casual atmosphere, interesting drinks and light bites. A courtyard welcomes guests with candles, tables and laid-back seating arrangements. Inside, the softly-lit interior is romantic and masculine, all at once, with pendant lighting, tin ceiling accents and well-edited artwork dotting the walls.
There, Simone regulars take advantage of the obscure beer and wine selection, vino stock and food options. The sharable smoked duck pizza is a definite stand out.
The wine bar is open seven days a week and offers daily food and drink specials.
