In the mood for fried chicken or a seafood dinner? La Lucha, chef Ford Fry’s new restaurant in the Houston Heights, is just the ticket. Inspired by Fry’s childhood visits to the San Jacinto Inn, the 4,000-square-foot restaurant serves a menu with comfort food classics.
Located right next door to another new Ford Fry restaurant, Superica, La Lucha offers a small but varied menu of comforting dishes. Enjoy peel-and-eat shrimp, Gulf oysters and Texas blue crab to start. Follow with the Pollo Especiale, a whole or fried chicken served with biscuits, pickles and your choice of sides. If not in the mood for chicken, La Lucha also serves a juicy burger, fried shrimp tacos, and blackened tacos that you can enjoy in its expansive dining room or its welcoming outdoor patio. A selection of wines, beers, bubbly, mezcal and cocktails are available to wash it all down.
La Lucha is open late on Fridays (starting at 5 p.m.) and on Saturdays (starting at noon). On Sundays, it opens from noon to 10 p.m. and on Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
