Hotel Saint Augustine

Hotel Saint Augustine, the newest boutique hotel from the acclaimed hospitality brand Bunkhouse Hotels and developer The Marchbanks Company, opened in December 2024 in Houston’s Museum District, steps away from The Menil Collection in the beloved Montrose neighborhood. This is the Bunkhouse brand’s inaugural hotel in H-Town. 

Dotted across 2.2 acres, the hotel features 71 rooms and suites in multiple buildings, a Gulf Coast-inspired restaurant, an intimate event space, an all-day lobby lounge and listening room, and a circular heated pool.

While Hotel Saint Augustine is not affiliated with the Menil Collection, one of the country’s finest arts institutions, the property does seek to engender the ethos of the Menil family and the museum, drawing inspiration from the spirit of the museum collection and Houston itself.

The suites and guestrooms boast playful furnishings and finish details, lending a surrealist edge to the composed decor. Monochromatic hues of blue, deep red, sage, and mustard create a relaxing space, with drapes and velvet textures adding a level of indulgence. Oversized sculptural lighting and surrealist fixtures, such as the amoebic-shaped wall mirrors, disrupt the expected proportions of the space, and nickel and chrome finishes add moments of modern texture.

The property’s food and beverage concepts are helmed by Houston’s well-known chef and restaurateur Aaron Bludorn and his front-of-house partner Cherif Mbodji. Perseid (per-see-id), the hotel’s premiere all-day restaurant, is a take on the quintessential neighborhood bistro, with a menu that celebrates the diverse global influences shaping Houston’s food and culture. On the beverage side, expect a seasonal blend of classic and creative cocktails, named after icons from Houston and the Montrose neighborhood, alongside classic French wines from small producers and eclectic wines sourced from family-owned wineries across the globe.
