Fans craving peking duck and pork buns don’t have to hightail it to Bellaire to get their fix now that Fat Bao has opened on Upper Kirby. The fast-casual spot opened in December 2012, turning out creatively-filled renditions of the classic Chinese dish.
Inside, the counter service spot is relaxed and laid-back with an open floorplan, chalkboard menu and a few TVs hanging throughout. As for fare, guests will find an a la carte line-up touting classics like bao filled with braised pork belly or peking duck, as well as unique renditions like the New Yorker packed with smoked salmon, avocado, green onions and cream sauce or the Crab Daddy with soft shell crab, spicy mayo and Asian slaw. Don’t miss the lightly battered, curried cauliflower side or the smores bao dessert.
Fat Bao is open for lunch and dinner daily.
