Better Luck Tomorrow

544 Yale St. | Houston, TX 77007
Houston Heights

Better Luck Tomorrow is a decidedly unfussy bar from two veterans of the local hospitality scene.

The “neighborhood bar with food” concept opened in summer 2017 following much speculation about what acclaimed chef Justin Yu and prolific bar operator Bobby Heugel had up their sleeves. The space formerly inhabited by Dry Creek Café now features a series of easygoing cocktails (try the Salty Cat made with gin, grapefruit, plum and a bit of salt) and a smart selection of dishes far above typical bar fare, such as the burrata with spring onions and bagna cauda. There are also a few different wines by the bottle and by the glass—a menu curated by Public Services Wine and Whisky’s Justin Vann.

The bar itself is rather colorful, with bright neon lights illuminating clear panels on the walls for a stained-glass effect. While the interior isn’t huge, there are two nice sized outdoor patios where patrons can enjoy this quaint quadrant of the Heights.
