August Antiques is a unique family-owned business in the Historic Houston Heights offering many unusual finds from the New England states as well as upstate and western New York.
The shop started in 1993 with just one room of what now fills the entire first floor of a 1920’s residential/commercial style red brick building, which is believed to have been originally used as a grocery store. Within its first year in business, August Antiques needed more room and expanded to the adjacent 1910’s corner building, once home to the Heights Gulf Service station.
In its early life, August Antiques developed a following for its selection of primitives and Victorian furniture from early New England estates. Today, the inventory had expanded to include Mission, Empire and primitive furniture, as well as old and rare books, religious artifacts and period lighting.
Check out Ben's Antique Gardening, nestled between August Antiques' two historic buildings. The alfresco shop stocks patio furniture, clay pots and concrete items, along with salvaged windows and doors.
