Downtown movie-goers have a new place to see indie flicks now that Robert Redford’s AMC Houston 8 has opened at Bayou Place. Set in the former Angelika Film Center location, Sundance plays movies culled from film festivals and the best in general release.
Inside the refurbished space, rich earth tones and dark wood accents impart a rustic vibe, coupled with locally-sourced artwork and contemporary accents. In addition to eight theater screens, guests can find upgraded concessions touting gourmet hot dogs, specialty pastries, candy and beer and wine. For extended offerings, try the lobby-set Sundance Bar. There, moviegoers can enjoy cocktails, fresh fare, salads and desserts or bring items back to the theater to enjoy during the movie.
Other highlights include all-reserved seating, digital stereo sound and presentation, filmmaker screenings and exclusive events, plus free parking for patrons and community events.
