The Hawaiian word Ohana means family, and that sense of oneness with actors is what the Ohana Theatre Co. wants to instill in its audiences.
Founded by Gene Kato and John Lazo, Ohana is an upstart theater company that focuses on crafting and producing emotional performances—just like most families. The for-profit theater launched in 2012 with its debut performance Awesome America.
The theater’s repertoire will revolve around quality new works, the reinvention of classics and the revival of thought-provoking productions.
