MFA Contemporary @ Heights Mercantile
Located in Houston’s historic Heights neighborhood is a new space celebrating contemporary art and artists. The Museum of Fine Arts Houston teamed up with Heights Mercantile to open MFA Contemporary @ Heights Mercantile. MFA Contemporary is situated on Heights Boulevard, across from Donovan Park, with a façade and building as pleasing to visitors as the artwork inside. MFA Contemporary fits right in with the highly curated beauty, shopping, dining and wellness tenants also located in the Heights Mercantile shopping center.
MFA Contemporary guests can anticipate installations that incorporate the ever-changing role of technology in art. Currently showing is City Glow, a seven-minute work spread across five video monitors by Japanese artist Chiho Aoshima. MFA Contemporary also offers Mix It Up with the MFAH, a free art-making program for children ages five and up. Children can stop by the pop-up studio any time between 10 a.m. and noon to create their own works of art. Mix It Up with the MFAH will be held on the last Sunday of every month and located on the 7th St. Outdoor Garden (between Heights Blvd. and Yale St.).
