Sitting above the MetroNational offices in Memorial City, the aptly named Liberty Kitchen at The Treehouse offers an eclectic mix of gulf coast seafood and southwestern-themed entrees. The trendy restaurant is actually a paired down version of its popular counterparts, Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar, Little Liberty, and Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette.
Executive Chef Eric Laird uses a 14-foot-long wood–burning grill to offer the signature Liberty Grilled Oysters and other meat and fish dishes. Other menu offerings include lobster tacos, Hawaiian poke, Texas red fish, a lamb cheeseburger, chicken cacciatore, and a pork belly BLT. Don’t forget to add a side of Liberty’s famous custom mac and cheese dishes or queso dips. Finish it all off with seasonal creations from the Sweet Liberties and Creamery.
The treehouse location is LEED Platinum-certified with features like a wind turbine, rooftop garden, geothermal cooling and heating, rainwater collection, and solar panels. The hip décor offers modern tables and stools, large booths, and an expansive outdoor patio. The “tree den” mezzanine level can be rented for private and events and large parties.
The cocktail menu includes many of the favorites found at other Liberty locations like the Liberty Mule (pineapple vodka and ginger beer) but also includes new additions like the Treehouse Toreado (anejo tequila, chili liqueur and St. Germain elderflower liqueur). True to the idea of a neighborhood restaurant, Liberty is only serving Texas beer and spirits at the bar.
