With so many non-descript restaurant options unfolding in Chinatown, it’s sometimes hard to know the good from the great. Kim Phat Hu Tieu Nam Vang falls in the latter category, at least according to Conde Nast Traveler, who named the restaurant to its 2016 “Where in the World to Eat” list.

While the hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese venture might not take top honors for having the best service in town, it does make up for it in the culinary category. Though Kim Phat Hu Tieu Nam Vang might tout specials like the Bo Kho or Chao Oc, the Hu Tieu Nam Vang is what draws the praise of regulars. The Vietnamese noodle soup combines a savory broth with simmering pork bone, shrimp and squid, along with greens and other vegetables. Other fan favorites include Bun Cha, a grilled pork and noodle dish originating from Hanoi, Vietnam, and the bun bo so-so soup.
