Haunted Mayfield Manor

Galveston Island is often cited as one of the most-haunted destinations in the country. So it's no surprise that the beach community's newest attraction is a permanent spook house, complete with its own scary tale.

Haunted Mayfield Manor is billed as the home of Dr. Horace Mayfield. According to the legend surrounding the attraction, Mayfield was an up and coming young physician at the turn of the 20th Century, engaged in mental illness experiments on unknowing patients. When the devastating 1900 Hurricane hit Galveston, Mayfield lost his parents and his fiance, as well as all of his research. The effect: the good doctor went insane and to this day, Mayfield tries to continue his dark research. While the story around Mayfield is fictitious, unexplainable occurrences are reported at the house.
