Move over Goode Company Barbecue, Seafood and Taqueria—make way for Goode Bird—the newest addition to the popular Houston family of restaurants. You may be able to guess by the name, Goode Bird focuses on chicken, southern-inspired fried chicken that spends an entire day soaking in a mix of sea salt, thyme, seasoned buttermilk, and Texas honey before it hits the hot grease.
Goode Bird is a to-go only restaurant that offers a range of Southern comfort sides including deviled eggs, butter biscuits, collard greens, fried okra, cornbread, jalapeño creamed corn, Cajun dirty rice and of course mashed potatoes.
Have a taste for roasted chicken? No worries. Spit-roasted chicken seasoned with fresh rosemary, lemon and garlic, slowly roasted over mesquite wood is available to satisfy your taste buds in half or whole orders. Roasted or fried, all of the chickens travel to Houston from the Texas Hill Country fresh, hormone and antibiotic-free.
As you lick your fingers, you might savor your chicken just a little bit more knowing that one percent of every Goode Bird purchase is donated to support local charities.
Goode Bird is located at 5015 Kirby and open for pick-up Monday through Friday, 4–8 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 12–8 p.m.
