Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar

After years of planning and dedication, second-generation restaurateur Jason Goldstein opened Houston’s Genesis Steakhouse & Wine Bar—the first Kosher steakhouse in the Southwestern United States. Located in the Bellaire area, the restaurant promises cuisine made with local and sustainably-sourced ingredients, as well as high-quality meats, fish and fowl found in the Gulf Coast. Inside, a contemporary dining space welcomes guests for power lunches and date nights, alike.

In the main dining area, twinkle lights hang overhead and colored lights drench the textured walls surrounding the space, while a mix of banquettes and linen-topped tables fill the room. For special events, guests can reserve the 40-seat Wine Room or the 80-seat Grand Banquet Room.On the menu, expect a mix of regional entrees and internationally-inspired dishes. Prime beef burgers and salads are on offer, as well as fresh catch, steak dishes and pastas. Beyond the cocktail line-up, which touts classics like the French 75 and Cable Car, Genesis offers a well-edited array of kosher-certified wines.

The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 p.m. until Midnight, in observance of Sabbath. Though Genesis remains closed to the public from 3 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday, the restaurant hosts corporate and social functions on Friday evenings.
