A little West Texas flair made its way to West University Place in early 2020 by serving up hand-pressed tortillas, fresh salsas and even from-scratch pastries. El Topo, an eclectic restaurant serving brunch, a light lunch and dinner, hosts a staff uniquely experienced in food truck fare and fine dining.
Five dollar tacos, like the “Houston taco,” feature mouth-watering ingredients like barbacoa and epazote aioli. The shop has vegetarian options, too, like the Paris, TX sandwich composed of fried green tomatoes, seed bread, avocado mayo, herbs, pickles and crunchy salsa. Pastries, a variety of toasts and two different kinds of grits are also on the menu for breakfast lovers. All of this can be paired with one of their wines from their “nuanced wine list” crafted with great consideration for the finer things in life.
Diners will be enlightened to the beauty of West Texas when they see the interior of this cute, casual spot. The restaurant’s truck roams on Wednesdays and Saturdays Downtown and in EaDo and can be requested for catering.
