The latest Travel Value Index from the folks at Hotwire.com shows Houston is the fourth best value in the country, up from sixth place in the 2011 index.

The annual index looks at all U.S. destinations and ranks them based on low rates, discounts, affordable entertainment and overall appeal.
H-Town scored high for Downtown, which the website's editors say offers an "impressive array of skyscrapers, parks, museums and shops" and "exudes both cosmopolitan vivacity and old-school Southern charm."
Houston also scored high for its abundance of discounts on travel and sunny year-round weather.
Dallas-Fort Worth was the only other texas city to rank in the top 10, coming in at No. 3. Orlando and Atlanta scored the top two spots.
