JR's Bar & Grill has been a fixture in Montrose for more than 30 years, drawing multiple generations of gay men and women to its laid-back, come-as-you-are interior and patio. June 23, 2015Electronic pop music duo (We Are) Nexus will help celebrate Pride this weekend in downtown Houston. The band will play on the Bud Light stage in front of City Hall at 12: 30 pm as part of the Pride Festival. This is the first year the festival and parade are being held downtown. Composer Nick Gunn and vocalist Carmen Rainier formed the band in 2012. They exploded onto the scene in August 2013 with the debut of their EP "It Feels So Good," a cover to Sonique's hit by the same name.... -

July 17, 2014Following a couple months of downtime, Eagle Houston has opened its doors once again, this time in Montrose. The bar formerly located in north Downtown took over the space at 611 Hyde Park Avenue, close to the Pacific Street strip. The spot has been completely renovated and includes a large, dual-level patio with a great second-floor perch perfect for watching the action below. August 6, 2013Rumors are swirling around Houston's LGBT community of the pending demise of the city's largest collection of gay bars. But the company says the rumors are nothing more than that and reiterates the bars aren't going anywhere. July 9, 2013Several new bars and lounges opening around Houston are looking to attract LGBT customers with unique experiences. Venus, a mostly lesbian-oriented concept, opened last month in Midtown.
